Whether you bought a programme, entered a competition, joined the carnival procession or just put money in a bucket, you helped Tideswell Wakes Festivities continue its work of raising funds for local good causes. Healthy finances mean we have once again been able to make donations of £600 divided between TADVO (Tideswell and District voluntary Organisation), Tideswell Patient Participation Group, Tideswell Community Association Bonfire & Firework Display, Crohns & Colitis UK and to the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight whose brilliant flyovers we’ve enjoyed on previous carnival days.

The AGM on 11 October saw some new additions to the wakes team, thank you to those who attended and continue to support Tideswell Wakes Festivities. Denise resigned as a committee member following her hard work over the last 2 years and we welcome new team members Lee Morgan, Claire Bell, Suzy Wagstaffe & Wendy Coxon who will bring a lot to wakes 2018, well done and thank-you for volunteering!! All the current committee members have remained on the team, Andrew continues as Chair with John as Vice Chair, Julie as Secretary and Gillian as Treasurer. I would like to thank the present Wakes Team for all their hard work in planning and delivering the fun filled Wakes week for us all to enjoy

Planning for Wakes 2018 is due to commence in the New Year!
So on to Christmas festivities….Santa has again confirmed his visit to Tideswell on Christmas Eve and has taken time out of his very busy schedule to lead our parade down to the grotto as he enjoys it so much! The Parade will leave the George Inn at 5:00 pm; come along to the Nativity Service in Tideswell Church at 4.00pm or join us outside the George around 4.45 to get into the Christmas spirit. Santa’s grotto will be open at The Institute (behind Tideswell Church) from about 5:15pm with refreshments and music from Tideswell Band. Tickets cost £1.00 and are available from Tideswell Post office from December. To help Santa ensure he has the right presents, we’ll need a note of your child’s age and sex when you buy your ticket, and don’t forget
Howie’s Wakes Xmas Quiz at the Star on Thursday 21st December from 9:00 pm (£1.00 per person).

We hope to see you all there and Best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Tideswell Wakes Festivities committee.
