Planning a Float for the 70th Anniversary Carnival Parade? Fantastic but please read on…..We’re really hoping many of you have already caught the Tidza Wakes 70th Anniversary ‘bug’ and are planning house or street decorations, fancy dress costume or the theme of your float for the Carnival Parade!

As with everything the Wakes Committee is organising, our main aim is to make it enjoyable and fun but also safe for everyone involved or spectating, particularly at the highlight of Wakes Week: the Carnival Parade on Saturday 25th June which relies on brightly decorated floats, fancy dress costumes, musical accompaniment and Bands to give it the WOW factor.

But here comes the important bit…….with a larger number of Bands this year and growing interest from people entering floats in the Carnival, the Committee has decided we need everyone who enters a float to register before 5 pm on Friday 24 th June. This allows us to pre-plan the procession, reducing waiting time before the Carnival Parade and ensuring everyone gets a really good position in a procession that will showcase both floats and Bands.

It may not be possible to include floats in the Parade if they have not registered in advance.

When you register we will need basic details such as the type of vehicle, the theme, whether it will have music playing on the float and insurance. Please note that we will not be able to insure vehicle owners against a motor accident that occurs during the Parade. Whilst we agree that a motor accident is an unlikely event and our insurance will cover all other types of accidents or damage, we need you to inform your vehicle insurer that you intend to use the vehicle as a float so you have the correct cover on Saturday 25 th June. If this is unwelcome news for anyone currently thinking about entering a float in the Carnival, please, please DON’T abandon your plans but DO get in contact with the Committee to discuss your concerns, we can’t promise to solve all the issues but would like the opportunity to try!

To register your float, please contact Andrew on andrew@tideswellwakes.info or see any member of the team before 5 pm on Friday 24th June.

Don’t forget to come and see us at the Food Festival on April 30th where we will have our usual stall where we will have information and be selling our merchandise and of course the grand wakes draw tickets.
