Wakes 2015

Winter is over and summer is on its way (we hope) and Wakes 2015 will soon be here!

Well can you believe that it is ONLY three months until Wakes Week 2015? For some of us the planning has already begun and we are busy pulling together the events listing which has a few tweaks to keep things fresh! More to follow on that nearer the time…

If you are part of a club or association and are planning on holding an event during Wakes Week then please let us know and we will advertise this in the programme. Similarly, if you would like to showcase your writing/photography talents and have a story to tell of local interest please let us know and we would be happy to include this (by 14 April please).

Thanks also to our local businesses and trades who continue to support us by advertising with us. Can we please request that you do check your advert content for spelling and that your telephone numbers are up to date etc. Let Howie know if you have any changes please.

The village decorations were fabulous last year and this year we really want everyone to continue to build on the carnival celebrations by joining in the procession, decorating themselves or their houses/street and generally having a week in June that explodes with colour, vitality and music! We don’t have a theme as we think this would suppress artistic exploration (!) so basically anything goes… just have fun!!

We have had some useful feedback for the judging of streets, houses and fancy dress over the last year so will be feeding this into the arrangements. We are also on the look out for talented, local individuals who would like to be part of the judging panel. As you know this must be completely independent of the team so if you think you are the person for the job then please drop us a line.

So get your thinking caps on in preparation for June and come and find us at the Food Festival in May! If you need to contact us please email us at committee@tideswellwakes.info
