Trevor Hall’s second book about his thirty-nine years’ experience  as postman in Tideswell and district will be out very shortly. His first book ‘A Walk Round Tideswell’ covers  the village post round and if you’re lucky you might still find one for sale. His second, ‘The Moors and Villages’ invites you to accompany him on his journey round the moorland farms and villages around Tideswell. Trev took over his Uncle Colin’s job as postman in 1948, Colin started in 1908 and did forty years including his World War One service so that’s a total of seventy -nine years. Together they must have known almost everyone who lived in the area covered by the rounds during most of the twentieth century.

Trev has a great store of tales to tell about the many wonderful characters he knew.  This new volume includes many and is generously illustrated with photos and drawings. If you don’t find yourself or a member of your family mentioned you will have to wait for volume three.

Trev is now ninety and has lost most of his sight so he has to dictate the books – an impressive feat of memory. All the money raised by the sale of these books, apart from printing costs goes to Tideswell and district as a token of Trev’s gratitude for all that this landscape and its people has given him.
