As we go to press Tideswell Singers’ final rehearsals approach for a performance Chichester Psalms by Leonard Bernstein. The choir is thrilled to have been part of the first ever Classical Sheffield Festival of Music.  It has given them the opportunity sing in a really exciting piece of music by the composer of West Side Story.  Performing in the beautifully renovated Sheffield Cathedral is an experience comparable to home territory and The Cathedral of the Peak.

Tideswell Singers return to more familiar repertoire for local performance with Litton School in Litton Church 6pm Friday 13 November.

It may still seem a little way off, but Christmas preparations are also underway with dates to put in your diary.  On Thursday 3 December Tideswell Singers will greet fundraisers on the Lantern Walk for Helen’s Trust at Thornbridge Hall.   The choir’s main Christmas event will be in the Green Man Gallery in Buxton in aid of Blythe House at 7:30 pm, Wednesday 16 December.  Tickets £8 to include a glass of mulled wine. Tideswell Singers will be joining Litton Band for a Carol Service in Litton Church Friday 18 December at 6pm and singing in Chatsworth Courtyard from 12:30 Sunday 20 December. Christmas is not complete without local carol singing, so catch us in Fountain Square at 7:30 Wednesday 23 December, moving to the Red Lion in Litton for 9pm.  We hope to see you at one of these events.

As always, Tideswell Singers extend an invitation to come along and find out if you would like to join us as a regular singer.  Do please call Carol Bowns on 01298 213577 if you would like to chat about singing with us.  There are no auditions and rehearsals are directed in a way that encourages everyone to sing to the best of their ability.  Singers need no previous experience and although we generally sing from music scores, it is not necessary to be able to read music as you will be able to learn as you go along.
