Tideswell Cinema Live

Verdi’s Rigoletto, an opera tackling lust, love, passion and tragedy, is our live event for January at Tideswell Cinema, upstairs at the George Inn.

The opening scene takes place in the debauched court of the Duke of Mantua where naked women are forced to entertain richly dressed courtiers. A young woman is being stripped for the Duke’s pleasure when her father walks in. Court jester Rigoletto makes the mistake of mocking him. The father’s curse on Rigoletto haunts him for the rest of the opera, causing agony when his own beloved daughter Gilda falls in love with the Duke.

Rigoletto, starring Dimitri Platanias, Lucy Crowe and Michael Fabiano, is broadcast live from the Royal Opera House on Tue Jan 16 at 7.15pm.

Admission is £15 (£12.50 concessions).
