World class opera, drama and ballet come to Tideswell Cinema in February, featuring livebroadcasts from the UK’s top companies, upstairs at the George Inn.

First we have Puccini’s Tosca, a love story set amid the political turbulence of Rome in1800, live from the Royal Opera House at 7.15pm on Wed Feb 7. Conducted by DanEttinger, a star cast led by Adrianne Pieczonka will show us why this workremains one of the great operatic experiences of all time.

Shakespearian comedy is next, with the Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of Twelfth Night, live from Stratford on Valentine’s Night, Wed Feb 14 at 7pm. Comic actor Adrian Edmondson (Bottom, The Young Ones) is Malvolio, while Kate Tointon plays Olivia. The play is directed by Christopher Luscombe who gave us a gloriously funny Love’s Labours Lost in2014.

And our final live broadcast this month is a treat from the Royal Ballet – A Winter’s Tale, based on Shakespeare’s play, on Wed Feb 28 at 7.15pm. Choreographer Christopher Wheeldon (Alice’s Adventuresin Wonderland), has adapted this powerful story of jealousy, child abandonment and hopeless love, to great critical acclaim.
