Oscar Night

We have our very own Oscar Night in Tideswell! Coinciding with the Academy Awards Ceremony in the USA, we will be showing the 2017 winner in Best Film category, ‘Moonlight’. Described as ‘captivating, poignant, disturbing, beautiful’, the film portrays the early life of Chiron, a gay African American struggling to discover his identity whilst growing up in a rough neighbourhood of Miami.

Our March film is to be shown unusually on a Monday this month, on 26th. It is an Italian film with subtitles, ‘I Am Love’, in which Tilda Swinton offers a stunning performance as a Russian married into a powerful Italian family. She is the respected mother of three children, yet feels confusedly unfulfilled – until she meets her son’s friend and business partner, the talented chef Antonio. The film is described as an ‘elegant drama about the suffocating power of family, wealth and tradition’, and was nominated in 2011 at the Golden Globes and BAFTAs as Best Foreign Language Film.

Both these films will be shown at 7.30 p.m. upstairs in the George Inn, and all are welcome as Guest members (£4).

Later this month there will be the opportunity to book for our next DOUBLE BILL with meal, which is on Saturday 21st April and features two films starring Emma Thompson, ‘The Remains of the Day’ and ‘The Tall Guy’. Full details will be in next month’s Village Voice.
