Tideswell Allotments Association AGM

We held our AGM on 26 February at the Star Inn, with a good turn-out of twelve tenants (many thanks to Tim and Amy for their hospitality).

We were pleased to welcome three new tenants to the site, and only three local people remained on the waiting list. Tenants are required to actively cultivate their plots, to ensure the site is kept well maintained for the benefit of fellow tenants and neighbouring residents, and to be fair to people still waiting for plots to become available.

We discussed the ongoing management of the site (along Church Lane). Concerns were expressed about the continuing problem of unknown dogs left to roam around the site and dog mess. This is a real health risk given the use of the site for growing food. We agreed that signs confirming that the main part of the site is private would be erected, and a request made that the dog bin be used at all times.
Last year’s Open Show was judged a great success. This year, the Open Show will be on Saturday, 22 August at the St. John’s Institute (due to proposed work at the Fountain Square Church Hall in the summer). We are keen to encourage more entries to the show, particularly in the children’s categories. The show is open to everyone – so get growing!

You can contact us to be added to the waiting list, or find out more about our association and the Open Show, via our web site – www.tideswellallotments.org.uk.
