The key end-of-season game for Tideswell was the last homegame, on the Saturday of August Bank Holiday weekend, when the visitors were Whittington Wanderers 2nds. At that point the visitors were topping the table.Tideswell were put in to bat, and struggled as so often this season, making just 37. They were hindered by the withdrawal of a couple of loan players at the last minute, so defending a total that small with only 9 men would have been a miracle. There was no miracle as Whittington finished the job in the 21st over.

The following weekend Tideswell were at Coal Aston’s ground, where they won the toss and chose to bat, knocking up a very respectable 189, with captain Greg Taylor hitting 53 and Rohan Patel 36. Dan Shirt took 2-18 as the home side fell well short, batting out the overs but scoring only 111-8 in the process.

The season ended on 9 September at the Walton Dam ground v Chesterfield Barbarians 2nds. As so often this season, Tideswell lost the toss and were put in to bat. Ben Burrell made 27 but Tideswell were all out for 83 with 10 overs to spare. Dan Shirt (3-17) did his best with the ball, but the Barbarians reached the target in the 31st over.

Celebration for the Barbarians, whose win hoisted them to top of the Division, by just 5 points over Whittington Wanderers 2nds. TCC finished 5th of the 9 teams in Division 5, but only 29 points spanned the first 5. With 25 points for a win, Tideswell needed to have won just 1 more game to finish 2nd, and the top 4 were separated by only 8 points, so nobody ran away with it this season.
