Street Lighting

You may have noticed that several street lamps in our area are not working and need new bulbs.

Trying to get these repaired is almost impossible, reporting faults on the Derbyshire County Council (DCC) website is not easy. If you try hard in the navigation you will get there and get a job ref number and auto response.

I have reported two lamp faults. Despite website acknowledgement then no action. I have taken these matters up with the Ian Stephenson, Chief Executive (DCC) and his senior manager Debbie Anderson (Debbie [dot] Anderson [at] derbyshire [dot] gov [dot] uk), Senior Project Manager, Street Lighting. Their replies state that no funds are available to carry out repairs until significant bulb failures warrant a maintenance team to visit the area. More worryingly if the bulb failures pose a health and safety risk or accident risk, either to footpaths or road junctions etc. then this makes no difference to their stance.

Our DCC Councillor, Simon Spencer, simon [dot] spencer [at] derbyshire [dot] gov [dot] uk 01335 324324 is very concerned and would like to hear from you. He is doing his best to lobby for change in policy.
