Stage on Screen at the George
Tideswell Cinema’s live events for October get off to a soaring start with The Marriage of Figaro, live from the Royal Opera House on Monday Oct 5 at 6.45pm.
Mozart’s sublime sensual comedy stars Erwin Schrott and soprano Anita Hartig, conducted by Ivor Bolton, in David McVicar’s acclaimed production set in a French chateau on the eve of revolution.
Following that, we have The Importance of Being Earnest, Oscar Wilde’s classic comedy of social snobbery, starring David Suchet as the outrageous Lady Bracknell. The live performance from London’s Vaudeville Theatre on Oct 8 is sold out, but you can book for the encore on Tue Oct 13 at 7pm.
Next is another hugely popular production: Hamlet, live from the National Theatre, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, on Oct 15. This is also sold out, but seats for the encore are available on Sun Oct 18 at 7pm.
And we round off our October live events with  Henry V, from the Royal Shakespeare Company on Wed Oct 21 at 7pm. Screened just four days before St Crispin’s Day – the 600th anniversary of the Battle of Agincourt – this memorable play celebrates leadership and courage against all the odds.
All are £10 apart from The Marriage of Figaro, which is £15 (12.50 concessions).
