Memorial Candles

It has become an annual Christmas tradition to place candles in St John’s Church in memory of loved ones. These are lit for the 11:30 PM Service on Christmas eve and left on display to be lit for a second time at the 9:30 AM 2017 Candlemas service. Candles cost 50p each. Only one name will be allocated to each candle purchased.

If you would like to place an order, please enclose the appropriate payment in an envelope bearing your name and clearly indicating the name of the person to be remembered. The name will be printed on the side of the candleholder. Post this through my letterbox at St Elmo, Sherwood Road, Tideswell, by Sunday, 11 December.

Last year there was a wonderful response and well in excess of 200 candles were lit on the south window sills and the Meverill and Lytton tombs, creating a beautiful and emotive display. Please note, members of the congregation will be able to place their orders Sunday services as usual.
