The Brownies, Guides and Soroptimists of Buxton and District are working together to raise funds and awareness of Mary’s Meals.

This is a scheme to feed the poorest children in developing countries one meal a day at the cost of £1 for a whole month’s meals.

Children must attend school and each child is required to have a backpack containing suitable clothing including flip-flops, toothbrush, spoon, towel, paper, pen, pencil, ruler, rubber and sharpener.

We are asking for any backpacks that are no longer needed especially from those who are moving to a new school this autumn.

To launch the venture the Brownies and Guides are to hold a Coffee Evening in the Institute on September 23rd at 6pm. There will be coffee, a cake stall, a raffle and fun.

Please come along to support us and please bring along anything that will help a child to go to school and be fed. Donations can be left at Carol’s Hairdressing or call Carol on 07916295527 or Joy 872181.
