A request for information. The Tideswell Living History Group has been asked by Peter Walker (now living in Suffolk) if anyone can help with information about his Great Grandfather Leonard Walker.

I’m trying to obtain details of an quarry explosion in which my great grand father Leonard Walker (b 1853 Tideswell) lost a leg. On the 1891 census he is a limestone dresser and on the 1901 a shoe and boot dealer. I suspect the accident probably happened between 1891 and 1901. I know there are a number of old quarries in and around the town, but family members do not know where the accident occurred.

If anyone has an information about Leonard please e.mail the group (TLHG@btinternet.com) and we will pass it on to Peter.
