Tideswell’s Yorkshire & Derbyshire season is drawing near a close now, with just 3 matches left at the time of writing. The remaining opposition are the teams in 1st and 3rd place in the league, and, interestingly, Norton Woodseats 2nds, who could not raise a team for the home game at Tideswell and who are bottom. As things currently stand, one win (or a no-show) would take Tideswell out of the relegation zone.

Still, we are in better shape than some teams. Stocksbridge 3rds began the season in Division 5 and very soon folded. The Strollers, Baslow’s midweek friendly side, have also hung up their boots in 2014, and Eyam is struggling.

On 20 July Tideswell went down to Eyam for a friendly which was wrapped up by tea time. The following Sunday Tideswell were away again, at Grindleford, where our lads completed a double – something that would have been hard to credit only a few years ago.

Unusually, we have no friendlies booked in September. This means that Saturday 30 August will see the last and sole remaining home game (v Apperknowle 2nds), with the last match of all away at Norton Woodseats 2nds on 6 September.
