Kitchen Garden Christmas Stuffing Recipes

The Community garden boasts a wonderful herb garden, so here are a few herby recipes to enjoy with your Christmas dinner. Feel free to take a sprig to decorate your turkey or nutroast.

Traditional Sage & Onion stuffing

·       1 large onion – finely chopped

·       50 g (2 oz) butter

·       1 tbsp chopped fresh sage (or 1tsp driedsage)

·       100 g (4 oz) fresh breadcrumbs

·       1 medium egg, beaten

·       Salt & Pepper to season

·       [Optional: 350 g (12 oz) herby sausage meat]

Cook the onion in thebutter until soft and mix together with all the other ingredients.

Mix with the sausage meat to stuff a traditional turkey or shape into stuffing balls (without the sausage meat) and bake separately for 30 minutes to accompany any meat orvegetable nut roast.

Rosemary and Apple Stuffing

·       1 medium cooking apple – peeled and chopped finely

·       225 g (8 oz) fresh breadcrumbs

·       1 tsp Onion Salt

·       1/4 tsp Ground Black Pepper

·       1 tbsp fresh Rosemary (or 1 tsp dried Rosemary)

·       1 medium egg, beaten

·       50 g (2 oz) butter, melted

Mix everything together in a bowl. Then either stuff a turkey before roasting or shape into stuffingballs and bake for 30 minutes to accompany any meat or vegetable nut roast.
