Jackdaw Nuisance

Sadly, it appears that too many of the Jackdaw population have survived this very mild winter. They are now desperate for nesting sites and are even dropping twigs down active chimneys. This can constitute quite a bad fire risk and where they nest in holes in buildings, they attract other vermin. Jackdaws can also have a bad effect on the small bird population.

Please, if you are having any roofing work done this year, please ask your builder to cap redundant chimneys and to put a bunch of chicken netting into holes in high walls. In this way we may reduce the population of “the Bird of Tideswell” to a reasonable number.
