Gardening of communal areas in Tideswell

June 20, 2018 | Filed under: 2018, July 2018

At the last Parish Council meeting, a discussion took place about the gardening around the Parish.
It has become apparent that the amount of time the Parish Council allocated to the contract for the gardening is not sufficient and our contractor has had to give many extra hours of his own time to try and keep on top of some of the watering and basic tasks.
We have been very grateful to those residents who have contacted us offering their help with gardening in the Parish. The current councillors think this is a fantastic idea and the Parish Council wants to encourage people to volunteer to help maintain and manage certain areas of the Parish. Common and communal land belongs to all of the Parish and the Council are very keen to make sure the Parish has their input to how the gardens look.
We are looking for ideas of how specific garden and planted areas could be developed and for volunteers to help manage and maintain these areas.
We would agree a budget and look to fund each area with the cost of the plants and materials.
If there is an area of the parish you would be interested in developing and can offer some time, please get in touch with Hannah Owen, Parish Clerk on 07738076902 or email
