As I write this, it is glorious sunshine and the first weekend of Wakes with villagers and visitors out enjoying the sun and festivities. So what better time to have a family picnic and the Kitchen Garden in Tideswell is a perfect place to go! There are benches, picnic tables and it’s tucked behind the Institute away from any roads, so it’s a safe environment for young children. Everyone is welcome – after all it is your community garden.

Come and join us, the plants are beginning to thrive with beans climbing up the poles, fruit is ripening, tomatoes are setting and the pumpkins are putting out their first big yellow flowers. New members are always welcome, whether you’re a beginner or an expert or only have a little time to spare. We try to meet in the Garden on the first Saturday of each month at around 3 in the afternoon, but there is often someone pottering at anytime. So say hello – and you might even be tempted to pull a weed :). The Kitchen Garden is behind St John the Baptist Church andnext to the the Old Grammar school – or you can call Judy Cooke on 01298 872408for more details, email Josie at聽jo.kilner@yahoo.co.uk, or visit our Facebook page at 鈥楾ideswell Kitchen Garden鈥.
