Their Finest (cert 12 112mins)

1940, London. With the country’s morale at stake, Catrin Cole (Gemma Arterton) takes a job as a script writer for women’s dialogue in morale-boosting films being made when cinemas were re-opened. An idea of hers to make a film about Dunkirk from a woman’s perspective gets turned into a massive production and she finds herself on location with sexist screen-writer Tom Buckley (Sam Claflin) and an over-the-hill pompous actor Ambrose Hilliard (Bill Nighy), desperate to save his flagging career. With a makeshift cast and crew they work under fire to make a film to lift the nation’s flagging spirits and inspire America to join the war. A witty and romantic comedy with Richard E. Grant, Jeremy Irons, Helen McCrory, John Goodman and directed by Lone Scherfig.

Doors open 7.30 for 8pm and the bar will be open for refreshments before and after the film. Membership of Cressbrook Film Club is £20 for the whole season with guest tickets available at £5-00 per film for adults and £3 for kids.
