Tideswell Cinema is proud to host the national film premiere of London Road on Tue June 9 at 6.45pm.

Hailed as a ground-breaking play during two sell-out runs at the National Theatre, this film adaptation stars Olivia Colman, Anita Dobson and Tom Hardy. The evening will feature an exclusive Q & A session with cast and crew, and the film goes on general release on Fri June 12.

London Road is based on real-life events in Ipswich in 2006 when the murders of five young women sex workers shook the community, and uses residents’ own words set to an innovative musical score.

The following night, Wed June 10 at 7.15pm, we have a treat for opera lovers with the live broadcast of La Boheme from the Royal Opera House.

Puccini’s work is one of the great romances of all opera involving the love affair of Rodolfo and Mimi in bohemian Paris, with memorable arias and duets that have captivated audiences for more than 100 years.

As if that weren’t enough we have a live four-hour operatic feast on the afternoon of Sunday July 5 (2.45pm) when the Royal Opera House presents Rossini’s William Tell. Rising Italian star Damiano Michieletto makes his Royal Opera debut in this contemporary production conducted by Antonio Pappano.

London Road is £12.50, the operas £15 each (£12.50 concessions). Book through or 01298 872993. Cheques (to Tideswell Cinema) may be left at Tideswell Stores or posted to Tideswell Cinema, c/o 1 Manchester Rd, Tideswell, SK17 8LL. Please write name/date of production on back of cheque.
