TIDESWELL CINEMA December will bring nostalgia for some, as we recall the days when families sat together around the TV to watch the antics of Walmington-on-Sea’s Home Guard. Released this year, and starring Michael Gambon, Bill Nighy and Catherine Zeta Jones to name just a few of its stars, ‘Dad’s Army’ is set in 1944, and gives this disparate group of ‘heroes’ a very special mission, involving a spy on the loose – and could the outcome of the whole war be at stake?! Described as having “a lot of heart”, this film may not challenge, but is sure to delight, with many laughs on the way, promising to be an evening of fun. It will be shown on Tuesday 13th December at 7.30pm upstairs in The George, and is open to guests (£4 a ticket). The George is under new management, and offers an extensive menu, and is happy to serve pre-film meals.
Coming up soon is our Winter Double Bill, on Saturday 14th January. We will enter the world of spies, with the 1949 classic ‘The Third Man’, followed after dinner together by the highly acclaimed 2015 ‘Bridge of Spies’, starring Tom Hanks. Keep an eye on our website (www.tideswellcinema.com) for booking details in the next week or so. Or contact Margaret on 871681.
