Christian Aid

Come and enjoy a scrumptious breakfast on Saturday 13th, 9.30-11 a.m. in St John’s Institute. No booking necessary – just drop in. Donations will go towards Christian Aid’s work amongst refugees. Food will be lovingly prepared by members of our churches – as a way to ‘share breakfast with the poor’!

It is sixty years since the very first Christian Aid Week, and appropriately money raised this year will go towards supporting the many refugees who have been forced to leave their homes through no fault of their own. That was the reason the charity was started in 1945 – to help the thousands of displaced people in Europe following the Second World War. Today there are 65 million people worldwide fleeing conflict, war and disaster, a staggering statistic.
All our homes should receive the little red envelope during the week beginning 14th May, and someone will come along later to pick up whatever you can give. If however you miss the collector, Tim is happy to receive donations at Peak Volumes.
It is hard for us to imagine the desperation that leads families to abandon their homes, but supporting this cause is a way in which we can do something to help. Whatever you can give will be appreciated – in recent years we have been able to send over £2000 from Tideswell and the surrounding villages, and it really can make a difference.
