30th Birthday

The group was formed in 1986 and we are planning to celebrate our 30th birthday at the Old Hall hotel, Buxton on Oct 24th (Monday) at 630pm. Everyone is welcome to this fun evening, to celebrate the serious work which has been done over the years. The group initially met at the Devonshire Royal hospital, Buxton, then at the Queens Court day centre, the Portland Hotel and now at the Buckingham Hotel.

Members have left us over the years as they have felt able to deal with the day to day demands of diabetes, and we do not want to remind these people of the bad old days when they were first diagnosed. we do think , though that they would enjoy a reunion, and a chance to chat and catch up with friends from the past.

Our Junior section, now named the PEN PEOPLE has seen young people flourish and go on to do wonderful things. One is now our Chairman, another is studying to be a diabetes specialist nurse, another has his own company and plays rugby…. Were you one of these young people ?? we would like to meet you again, or perhaps you came to support a family member, who has since passed away……. you would be very welcome.

We do not want anyone to feel excluded. The evening is £10 per person per ticket, and includes buffet and entertainment.
