Bowl’d Over

Bowl’d Over’s back after its winter hibernation; not back with a vengeance, just back to let you all know that the outdoor crown green bowling season’s nearly here.

The green will, weather permitting, be open on Sat Mar. 29th when we also hope to have an inaugural opening of our brand-new fridge-freezer.

And what fun do we have in store for you, you may be asking?

a Wain & Wright fund raising quiz in the Horse & Jockey with food (optional) & a quality raffle, so expect Flinty’s hard sell. Look out for posters advertising it around the village.

In May, when the weather will be beautifully balmy (ha, ha) we’ll be having an Open Day where you can reveal your cunning bowling prowess whist we try to persuade you to join. Refreshments (including various drinks from our new fridge – get the Bo in) will be on sale at very reasonable prices.

Of course, the event that you’ll all be desperate to be in is ‘Rock ‘n’ Bowls’ in the middle of Wakes.

Now for some bowling – we’ve been a bit thin on the ground for the Indoor Short Mat so expect a serious recruiting drive next Autumn. We’ve had fun with varying degrees of success in the Long Mat at Chapel. It’s a totally different game from Short Mat.

Finally goodbye & we hope to see you on the green on Friday evenings from April onwards… or else!
