There has been a tenuous link between the hills of Appalachia in the eastern United States and the Pennines since the days of the Edale Bluegrass Festival in the 1970s and 80s.

The band currently flying the flag for this rural american music is Aprille and the Shower, who are playing at the Anchor Inn on Saturday July 1st from 2 – 5pm. This is a five piece acoustic band with fiddle, banjo, mandolin, guitar, double bass and harmony vocals.

The band members all live in or around the peak, with local fiddler Bob Diehl from Litton being one of the best bluegrass fiddle players in this country.

This is foot stompin’ music, so come along to hear ‘hillbilly music in the hills’.
