Bishop Pursglove School Sports Day Picture caption: Gosney House Captains Holly Gaffney and Samantha Walker of Year 6 at Bishop Pursglove School, Tideswell, proudly display the Sports Day winners cup. Also pictured are Les Hough, class teacher, Lynne Kilford, Head teacher and members of Gosney House. The sun shone down and made a fun afternoon of school sports into a wonderful village occasion. Parents, friends and grandparents relaxed on picnic blankets to watch the races, featuring classics events like ‘The Egg & Spoon”, “The Sack Race” and The Bean-bag-on-the-head Race”. Tideswell preschool even joined in, fielding some fine athletes who ran like the wind in their own races. Chocolate brownies, Lemon drizzle cake, flapjacks and cup cakes baked by the Friends of School went down very well with spectators, alongside a nice cup of tea. And the final score: Simpson House 75.5, Longden House 83, Lythgoe House 92.5 and the cup-winners Gosney House with 94 points. Then everyone got to draw breath very briefly before the wakes got under way. Lovely times in Tideswell. Helen Robinson Friends of Bishop Pursglove School
