The Derbyshire Trusted Befriending Network has just been launched by the County Council. The network aims make to make it easier for isolated and vulnerable people to find a suitable befriending service that matches their needs in their area.

Eighteen befriending services, which have reached set quality standards have been successfully accredited as network members.
The Friends and Good Neighbours Grant was launched by the council which is aimed at groups wanting to set up initiatives to combat loneliness in their communities.
Groups which successfully apply will receive a grant of up to £3,000 to kickstart a community event or set up a good neighbour initiative with a befriending aim.
To support the new Network the council is looking for people to volunteer as Befriending Champions, who will act as the ‘eyes and ears’ of their local community, looking out for people at risk and linking in with people who are receiving befriending support. The role also involves helping people find groups, activities or services that they might find enjoyable.
